Campaigners petition to save design and technology in UK schools

Dezeen Wire: the Design and Technology Association is urging people to complete an online petition to retain design and technology as a compulsory part of the UK’s National Curriculum. Design and technology is one of the subjects that could become optional in schools following the government’s announcement in January that it intends to slim down the curriculum.
BOFFO Building Fashion

A kickstarter campaign to raise funds ensuring the continuation of the BOFFO Building Fashion venture is underway. BOFFO Building Fashion celebrates cutting edge design through a series of temporary retail installations showcasing the work of an architect paired with a fashion designer. Each of five projects receives a $20,000 stipend for all construction, three of which have been completed already with the two remaining projects waiting for funding

MediaCityUK has been developed by The Peel Group and creates a globally significant digital media hub. It is one of the UK’s largest construction projects and has regenerated a former industrial dock site. © Gillespies Paralleling the development of the buildings has been the construction of high quality external spaces designed to integrate the new architecture and create a fresh and creative public realm, with heart and human scale. © Rolf Estensen The landscape for this school was designed by Østengen & Bergo AS . The school is located in a gently sloping terrain towards the south west, with traces of past ravines. The building is located with its “back” to the north and opens against the sports facilities and the hills far away to the south. The schoolyard is developed around a central zone south of the building
