Courtesy of NL Architects As part of a resort development, the first prize proposal for Sanya Block 5 by NL Architects consists of 8 blocks of 6 stories on top of a ground floor with restaurants, bars and retail. Located in the Hainan Province and the southernmost city in China, Sanya is well known for its tropical climate and popular tourist destination. @ Adria Goula Architects: H Arquitectes Location: Barcelona , Spain Collaborators: Montse Fornés, arquitecta (Harquitectes) Anna Bonet, interiorista (Harquitectes) Iñaki González de Mendiguchia, arquitecto técnico Project Year: 2011 Project Area: 127.40 sqm Photographs: Adria Goula The house was for a young couple without children, and had some initial programmatic requirements which were pretty conventional (a garage, three bedrooms, a study, etc). The plot, which was triangular and around 400 sqm, was part of a land promotion protected by the Incasol for self promoters and was subjected to a tight schedule for the development of the house. Situation While designing the project, both the clients’ requirements as well as our own ones had to be redefined so that the final price could be lowered while respecting most of the specifications of the couple, the land and the (social and economical) context

The competition for a “modernized Arche de Triomphe” was won by Johann Otto von Spreckelsen , whose concept was more or less a hollowed, symmetrical cube. Situated just outside of Paris in the business district of la Défense, the Grande Arche completes the Historical Axis – extending from the Louvre along the Champs-Elysees to the Arche de Triomphe – and guides Paris to the future
