© NRJA Our friends from NRJA (be sure to view previous NRJA projects on AD, especially their 2009 Building of the Year House ) shared their finished competition entry for a cemetery in Järva Common, Stockholm with us. Designing a cemetery is a difficult challenge as it is a place filled with symbolic importance and infused with a commitment to offering hope. The architects decided that this new cemetery will provide a place where the identity of the site is defined not only by the environmental quality of the space and its historical importance, but also by the project’s emphasize on concentration on the memory of the deceased

Lightweight Structures Award 2010
The Association for the Advancement of Lightweight Structures (Verein zur Förderung des Leichtbaus e.V.), based in Stuttgart, announces the 2010 Lightweight Structures Award. This year marks the sixth year of the award, given annually to promote and reward student achievements in the fields of architecture, design, as well as structural, aerospace and mechanical engineering. Design studio projects as well as diploma or master’s theses are eligible for submission. A total of 1200 Euro will be awarded to the winning entries. The award is offered to participants of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Deadline for submission is October 1, 2010. V&A Exhibition Road Competition

The Victoria and Albert Museum wishes to create a major new gallery with the capacity to deliver its high-profile programme of temporary exhibitions, a new museum entrance and a courtyard to create an informal and inviting relationship with Exhibition Road.
